Celebrate Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan 1905-2005 Guide For Teachers
Overview:
Students will gain an appreciation
for how elements of the arts, including music, dance,
drama, and visual art, are integral components of how we
celebrate in Saskatchewan. Students will explore family,
community, provincial, and national occasions celebrated
in Saskatchewan since 1905. Emphasis will be placed on
the diverse cultural groups represented in Saskatchewan.

Home Sweet Home: First Nations Communities in
Saskatchewan
Saskatchewan 1905-2005 Guide For Teachers
Overview:
Students will learn about traditional
and contemporary First Nations life, including the
history of Treaty processes and obligations, languages
and literature, and artistic expression. The
in-museum
Discovery Box program contains a rich array of artifacts and photos,
including a 'Made Beaver' token, a copy of Treaty 6, a replica Treaty medal,
a replica permit, and a replica pass. It also contains examples of
traditional arts, including birch bark biting, caribou tufting, and beading.
Through FREE in-classroom lesson plans,
students will learn about the different First Nations groups present in the
province. They will study the Treaty process and Treaty obligations today.
Students will also explore reserve life today and become familiar with First
Nations communities in Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan Wartime Contributions
Saskatchewan 1905-2005 Guide For Teachers
Overview: Students will learn about Saskatchewan's
participation in the world wars, our contributions, and about life on the
homefront. The in-museum Discovery Box
program focuses on the homefront and the effects of war on the people of
Saskatchewan. FREE in-classroom lesson plans
discuss how young people helped war efforts and the experience of
Aboriginal people during and after the First World War.
