For over fifty years, the Women's Auxiliary has been working together within the Western Development Museum to help in the preservation of artifacts and pioneer customs for future generations.

Demonstrations are done for visitors young and old alike. Old-fashion crafts such as spinning, rug hooking and braiding, spool knitting, quilting along with butter and ice cream making are very popular.

Funds are raised by a yearly quilt and rug raffle and the selling of handcrafts to support various projects within the Saskatoon Branch.

Membership is open to all ladies with a sincere interest and willingness to help with the preservation of pioneer life as it pertained to women on the prairies many years ago.  It is preferred that members have an interest in working with children and enjoy doing handwork and crafts.  The membership fee is minimal and meetings are held monthly. We have a work room at the museum where we  meet weekly, for those who are able, and work on projects.

Anyone interested in becoming a member of the Women's Auxiliary may contact the Western Development Museum Education and Volunteer Coordinator at (306) 931-1910, and an interview will be set up.  An initial tour and orientation is required before receiving a photo ID card to  be worn whenever at the museum.   

When volunteering for special museum activities, we are portraying women of the 1910 Era and should be dressed appropriately in old-fashion costume.  A list of some of the activities includes:  Heritage Day, flea markets, Easter programming, school tours, Museum Day, Pion Era, Children's Camp, summer programming, Grade IV Threshing,  Christmas Craft Fair, Boo-Town, Pioneer Christmas, Grade III 1910 Christmas, Seniors Christmas program.
