Museums Association of Saskatchewan Announces the Young Professional of the Year

The Museums Association of Saskatchewan held their annual awards celebration virtually on September 30.
The recipient of this years’ Young Professional Award is Kristine Flynn. Kristine is Programs and Volunteer Administration working at the WDM Corporate Office in Saskatoon.
The Young Professional Award recognizes the efforts of an outstanding individual who has made great strides and contributions to the broad museum community. They demonstrate passion and integrity. They endeavour to develop and share their experience, knowledge, and skills. Kristine has done all this and then some.
Over the last 12 years at the WDM, Kristine has taken on varied tasks from webmaster to heritage skills demonstrator. Some of her more notable contributions are the excellent work she has done on the WDM volunteer program including creating a new volunteer policy and implementing improvements to the volunteer management system. She has also taken the lead on creating guidelines for reviewing school programs to ensure they are curriculum-based and meet WDM mandate. Through her hard work, Kristine has ensured the volunteers feel welcomed and valued and that school children and teachers have a great Saskatchewan learning experience.
She is an advocate for volunteers and those who work with volunteers. In 2020, she joined two boards – the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration, which is an international organization, and the board of the Administrators of Volunteer Resources – Saskatchewan where she shares her knowledge of working with volunteers and shares her experiences as a volunteer in the museum sector. She continues to build on her knowledge while sharing her experiences with others. She exemplifies beautifully what this award represents.
Congratulations Kristine!
