Bernie Broughton has lived in Saskatchewan all of his life. Bernie and his wife Zoria have three children who with their spouses and six grandchildren, all reside in Saskatoon. Bernie has always had a keen interest in Saskatchewan history and understands the importance of preserving our heritage for future generations.
Bernie graduated from the University of Saskatchewan College of Commerce and subsequently obtained a CPA-CA designation. As well, Bernie has completed the ICD-Rotman Director’s Education Program in 2016.
Bernie, who is now retired, had a career in public accounting as a partner with a Saskatchewan firm, Hergott Duval Stack LLP and subsequently with an international firm, Ernst & Young LLP. Throughout his career Bernie was involved in providing a wide range of services to private businesses, public companies and not for profit clients throughout the province. This work provided an opportunity to gain more knowledge about this province and its people.
Bernie recognized the importance of giving back to the community by volunteering for various organizations including the Saskatoon Community Foundation, Catholic Family Services of Saskatoon and others. As well Bernie managed numerous sports teams that his children participated in.
It is an honour for Bernie to have been appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the Western Development Museum.
