Museum Led Program led by Museum staff or volunteers.
Toys of Yesteryear is held in the school on Boomtown Street and is led by Museum staff. This tried and true program captures the children’s imaginations. Children will learn about 1910 settler one-room schools, sit in old-fashioned desks, participate in a dramatic recreation of a child’s Christmas morning in 1910, and help with the unwrapping of presents (Museum artifacts). They will also have a chance to play with a variety of toys from yesteryear. These toys were often handmade and fashioned from available and simple materials.
Following the story session (50 minutes), the children, guided by the teacher and chaperones, may view the Eaton’s Once Upon a Christmas display and/or tour the rest of the Museum making special note of Boomtown’s Christmas window displays.
