These men built the rail lines behind the Western Front, which supplied our troops with everything they needed – food, medicine, equipment, etc. The rail lines also took away the dead and wounded after the battles.

The picture shows the men behind the scenes, a little known part of Canadian history. Each man in the photo would have received a scroll commemorating their service and a cap pin.
