Program Types
The WDM offers a mix of Museum-Led, Teacher-Led, and Self-Guided visit and program options.
Self-Guided Tours
Explore the Museum with your students, stopping to investigate your choice of exhibits and artifacts. Museum Gallery Guides and scavenger hunts are available upon request.
Museum-Led Programs
WDM staff or volunteers will lead you and your students through set programming.
Museum staff or volunteers will:
- Greet your group when you arrive to introduce the program and review the Museum rules.
- Ensure that all required materials are ready.
- Lead and facilitate program activities.
NOTE: Chaperones are still required and will be asked to help students with some activities.
Note: Your students may not have a chance explore the whole Museum as part of any one program.
Partner-Led Programs
Staff or volunteers from a partner organization will lead you and your students through set programming.
Note: Your students may not have a chance explore the whole Museum as part of any one program.
Teacher-Led Programs
Teachers will lead the program using scripts or other information provided by the Museum. Museum staff will not guide you and your students.
Museum staff or volunteers will:
- Greet your group when you arrive to introduce the program and review the Museum rules.
- Ensure that all required materials are ready.
- Will review the program with teachers before the start so that teachers are comfortable delivering the program.
Scripts will help guide you and your students in exploring and learning from the artifacts, replicas and photos used in these programs. Teachers may request the program script to review before their visit. Staff will check in with teachers during the program to answer questions or, if needed, to help direct students to their next activity.
Virtual Programs
A safe opportunity for students to learn from their own classrooms or homes. Virtual programs feature digital content like videos and printable activities like worksheets, crafts, and colouring pages. Some virtual programs may include a live component, such as a Q & A session with WDM Education Staff. Check each program listing carefully for details about what is included.
