Welcome to the Museum Stories blog. We are excited to be able to share behind the scenes stories, useful tips, and much more through our Museum Stories blog. There is a lot going on at the WDM and with most of our work occurring behind the scenes, we wanted to give you an opportunity to get to know us and our work a bit better.

You’ll be hearing from our staff and volunteers as they work on exhibits, collections and conservation projects. We’ll also be providing handy tips to make your next museum visit even more memorable. We hope our Museum Stories blog will provide insight into the inner workings of a museum and give you an opportunity to ask questions about the work we are doing.

I’ve always compared museums to icebergs. What you see when you visit is just a fraction of our overall operations. The work that goes into collecting, conserving, exhibiting and educating people about our histories and the operational support systems needed to manage 5 facilities is significant. We are excited to be able to take you past the “staff only” door and reveal more of the WDM’s inner workings.
