Moving a Collection

The WDM Corporate Office is currently undertaking a project to move the Small Artifacts and Documents Collection. The Collection’s move is a great opportunity for the WDM to conduct a full inventory of this Collection, which contains over 13,000 artifacts, allowing us to ensure everything is where it is supposed to be. A collection inventory is also a great chance for us to make sure our artifacts are being stored in a way that promotes their preservation and for us to flag any condition issues for the Museum’s Conservator. In fact, a big reason for moving the collection is new storage space has better environmental controls, which is an important part of long-term preservation for museum collections. It is also an opportunity to photograph artifacts for the WDM’s database.
