Long before photography became common, many families created intricate works of art using human hair to commemorate loved ones and preserve cherished memories. During this hands-on gallery pop-up, visitors will discover the surprising history behind Victorian hair wreaths, jewellery and other decorative pieces, while learning about the symbolism, craftsmanship and cultural traditions that made this unique art form popular throughout the 19th century.

Join our summer student Brooklyn at this drop-in event in the galleries.
