September Films at the WDM

Throughout September, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, we invite visitors to experience a selection of short films from the National Film Board of Canada sharing Indigenous stories, voices and perspectives.

Through documentary, animation and storytelling, these films offer opportunities to learn about Indigenous cultures, traditions, identity and community. By listening to Indigenous voices and stories, we can deepen our understanding, reflect on our shared history and consider the role we all have in the ongoing journey of truth and reconciliation.

Urban.Indigenous.Proud: That Old Game La Crosse — JL Whitecrow, 2018, 7 min, documentary

My Friend the Green Horse — Alanis Obomsawin, 2024, 11 min, documentary/animation

Urban.Indigenous.Proud: Zaagi'idiwin — Tracie Louttit, 2018, 9 min, documentary

Intended audience: All ages; family viewing.

Content information: The films explore Indigenous culture, identity, community, traditional teachings, ceremony, language, reconciliation and the experiences of Indigenous children and youth. Some themes may encourage questions or discussion among younger viewers.

The approximately 71-minute program repeats throughout the day. Visitors may enter or leave the theatre at any time.
