This area of the Museum is designed for children. It is arranged in four sections: “a time to play,” “a time to learn,” “a time to shop,” and “a time for work.” Youngsters are invited to play with traditional toys and handle objects from the past. Here, children can pretend they are students in a one-room school, shop for items found in a general store or experience the atmosphere of an old-time kitchen.
The Western Development Museum (WDM) is the largest human history museum in Saskatchewan. With a collection of over 75,000 artifacts ranging from pins to locomotives and four locations in the province, the WDM shares the Saskatchewan story from the Treaties to the present day.
The WDM’s facilities are situated in Treaty 4 and Treaty 6 territories and the Homeland of the Métis. The provincial boundaries for Saskatchewan also include Treaty 2, Treaty 5, Treaty 8 and Treaty 10 territories. Please visit WDM Reconciliation for more information.
