Museum Days will bring the WDM North Battleford alive with demonstrations, interpretations, displays and activities. In groups led by their teacher or a chaperone, students learn by doing as they try their hand at heritage skills under the direction of WDM staff and volunteers. Students can experience butter
churning and ice cream making, learn to write with a nib pen and ink, make rope and more. They will meet Museum volunteers who will demonstrate their knowledge and skills of Saskatchewan's past. Visit the schoolhouse where students can compare expectations from 1920 to today and the McLaren Family
Farmhouse where our volunteers will be baking in a wood-fired oven.
Other Museum Days activities include:
While taking part in Museum Days activities, students can explore the outdoor and indoor exhibits. The Heritage Farm and Village represents what a small town may have looked like in 1920s Saskatchewan. Students will marvel at the massive steam engines, stand in the shadow of an iconic grain elevator and feel the neighbourly connection of a small town main street from the era. Inside the Museum galleries, they'll see gleaming vehicles and artifacts representative of 1920s life. They can explore the 100 Years of Saskatchewan History exhibit where they can go inside a mining display to learn about Saskatchewan's incredible natural resources.
