Museum volunteers bring our museum alive! Volunteers lead tours, help make Museum events possible, and more.

– WDM Volunteers Elaine and Louis Lahosky, 2023

Volunteers make Museum events possible. Play games, make crafts, help barbeque or any of the many other essential activities. Volunteers work directly with visitors.

Tour Guides:
Share your enthusiasm and knowledge with visitors to the Museum. We provide the information, you bring the enthusiasm! Tours usually run under two hours and are pre-booked, so we will contact as necessary.
Interpreters: Interpreters share information on a specific topic or artifact during school programming or at special events. It can be as simple as teaching a craft or demonstrating a heritage skill – we provide all the training you need.

These individuals provide support to Museum staff during busy programming periods and at special events. They are an invaluable source of assistance during the Celebrate Christmas Past school program in November/December, year-end school tours in May/June, as well as at public programs such as Canada Day, Museum Day and the Threshermen’s Show & Seniors’ Festival.

The Yorkton Threshermen’s Club welcomes individuals interested in all aspects of steam, horse-powered and other vintage equipment and machinery. Regular meetings are held on the second Saturday of January through July, with a year-end meeting and potluck in November. The group’s main focus is on the presentation of the annual Threshermen’s Show & Seniors’ Festival held each year on the August long weekend.
