Description

Our guides lead students through the indoor exhibits, sharing information and
thought-provoking questions.

The visit begins with a video highlighting the history of Saskatchewan before it became a province in 1905. As students move through the Museum, they will be encouraged to compare and contrast their lives and experiences to those represented through stories and representations in the exhibits.

A stop in Times Square allows students the opportunity to engage with some hands-on artifacts. Experience sitting in a desk from a one-room school house, learn how laundry was cleaned before electricity and try using a cash register from long ago.

WDM Yorkton galleries that you will explore include:

  • 100 Years of Saskatchewan History exhibit featuring displays about immigration and settlement in Saskatchewan, leisure activities and a 100 year timeline of Saskatchewan history
  • Yorkton Local History exhibit
  • Showcase Rooms featuring artifacts from different countries
  • In A Prairie Attic: Bladon Family Toys exhibit

Download the full booklet with further program information (PDF).

There are four add-on opportunities to further enhance your self-guided visit (additional fees apply):

Ice Cream Making Demonstration

Butter Making Demonstration

Rope Making Demonstration

Candle Making Demonstration
